Frequently Asked Questions
What can JSA Kids Marketing do for me?
Exposure. The only way to get people to know about the book or product is to get them to talk about it. The more they know about it, the more likely people will engage with it.
What's the difference between Marketing and Publicity?
To some marketing and publicity are the same thing. To others there is a difference. To me, it is like having a right and a left hand. You can use one, you can use the other or you can use both. JSA Kids Marketing focuses on doing what fits for the product. We try to market the product to the correct audience to gain the most exposure. The same goes for publicity, we outreach to various forms of media to get the most coverage.
How do you do what you do?
It's not magic, it's persistence. It's knowing who to contact, when to contact them, and believing in your product as much as you do. Media has changed so much over the years (and day by day), so keeping on top of things is a full time job!
How long does a promotion take?
There is no set answer. It really does depend on timing. Timing, as they say is everything. You have to pay attention to the media and the news. You could be in the green room for a national morning show interview, but if a major news story breaks, you may be bumped and not rescheduled. It's part skill, part luck and lots of persistence.
How will I know if it works?
There is no gauge for it. In a perfect world you'll see a bump in sales right away. Sometimes it is a slow build. Sometimes you can have the best campaign and not see any movement.
What else do I need to think about?
You should think about how you want people to think of you and your product. You should also think about what message your product conveys or what you want to share. This may all help create the branding of your product. When thinking about what people might ask you about your product, you should be able to answer why you created, wrote, or came up with the product. Why did you produce the product? What impact or difference do you think it will have on the consumer?
